Hallway

The hallway before (lower) and after (upper)...  A round juniper log was positioned to the right of the stairs as you go up, adding texture and changing the contemporary look to Southwest.  The walls were all finished in a latte colored venetian plaster. Our floor molding is a live edge juniper, stained with a clear stain.  The niches we built into the wall as deep as we could go and not hit the linen closet which opens up around the corner and now backs up to the niche.  The size and spacing of the niches were determined by the existing wiring inside the wall.  We tore out the wall and built the niches ourselves.  Our painter plastered it when we were finished, but there are a lot of places in your home you can easily add a wall niche or a group of wall niches your self.  A random natural slate flooring warmed it up and it is so easy to care for!
